New Year’s Eve Lord Mayor's picnic
Each year the Lord Mayor of Sydney hosts a New Year’s Eve Party in the Grounds of Government House for special Community groups. Refugees are one such group and the House Of Welcome receives a small number of invitations. The venue is on the foreshore of the harbour near the Opera House and provides, after the free food and entertainment, a great location to view the 9 pm Fireworks.
