How can you support asylum seekers and refugees with material goods?
If you or your community group can support our work through material donations have a look at the ideas below.
Contact us or call 02 9727 9290 to arrange a drop off time from Monday-Thursday between 9am and 4pm.
We DO NOT accept household electrical items, large white goods e.g. washing machines, or any damaged clothes, toys or bedding.
Food Bank Donations
We run a food bank for our clients who have limited or no income. They can access familiar and nutritious food which helps supplement their limited weekly budget.
Could you get together with a few friends, your family, your community group and drop some of these items off to the HoW office in Carramar?
Great food items to donate:
- Rice/Pasta
- Dried lentils/peas
- Sliced Bread (Brown or White)
- Flour/Sugar
- Cooking Oil

- Dried fruit
- Eggs
- Long life (UHT) milk
- Healthy juices
- Tinned fish
- Noodles (Esp. 2 minute noodles)
- Tea & Coffee
- Cooking Spices
Non-food items
- Dishwashing liquid
- Razors/Shaving foam
- Sanitary Pads/Tampons
- Shampoo/Conditioner
- Soap
- Toothbrushes/Toothpaste
- Washing powder
- Toilet paper/Tissues
- Nappies (different sizes)/Baby Wipes
- Deodorant
Furniture – Occasional Need
OUR FURNITURE PROGRAM IS CURRENTLY ON HOLD – We are taking an inventory of our furniture and reviewing our storage capacity. Until further notice we cannot accept donations of large furniture items. (May 2012)
Toys, Books & Clothes
We work with families and individuals of all ages so books, toys and clothes in good condition can be of great use.
We don’t have the capacity to store a lot of donations so again, please call us before you bring the donations into the office during office hours. Please DO NOT LEAVE DONATIONS OUTSIDE on the street – we can be fined by the council!
Sports equipment and kids activity resources are needed for some of our in-house activities. If you have any footballs, cricket sets, frisbees, tennis racquets, colouring books, art resources then contact us.
